Steps

To set the default language for the entire Wiki:

1. Administer the Wiki.
2. Select "Content", and then select "Localization" from the dropdown.

   

3. Select from the dropdown the new default language for the Wiki. This setting controls which language is used by default when new Pages are created.

   

4. Click "Save" to apply the changes, or simply leave the "Administration: Localization" Page to discard them.

FAQ

What if I want to use a language with characters not covered by ISO-8859-1?

Nothing has to be adjusted. XWiki reads, stores and serves text as UTF-8, so every character a language needs is displayed, as described on Character Encoding.
